Railroads on Parades - DeWitt Clinton
Postcard courtesy of Bob Catania

Railroad coaches were really “air-conditioned” in the days of the puffing DeWitt Clinton. Passengers got plenty of oxygen- along with a vast amount of soot and cinders. The venerable train plays a dramatic part in “Railroads on Parade,” one of the exhibits of the World’s Fair of 1940 in New York.
