This picture shows the central mall of the New York World’s Fair, al long esplanade lined with trees and benches arranged alongside five lagoons. The latter form a setting for groups of sculptured symbolical figures, a huge portrait statue of George Washington as he arrived in New York City for his inauguration, one of the larges sundials in the world, and at top, the Perisphere, a 200-foot ball, and the Trylon, a 700-foot triangular shaft. About 25 of the largest exhibit buildings face upon the tree-lined area.
