“The Wonder World of Chemistry” erected at the New York World’s Fair 1939 by E. I du Pont deNemours & Company houses a series of dramatizations of the contributions of chemistry to every phase of social and industrial life. The exhibit was designed by Walter Dorwin Teague: architectural plans drawn by A. M. Erickson. Among the displays is a glorified laboratory demonstrating the transformation of commonplace substances in luxuries. Colorful liquids circulate constantly in the illuminated column in the court to represent a modern chemical appliance.
