Chrysler Motors Building
Postcard courtesy of Christine Johnson

The Chrysler Motors Building at the New York World’s Fair houses a spectacular exhibit in two parts. In the rotunda the Focal Exhibit, illustrating the history of transportation through the ages, combines moving pictures, sound effects, statecraft and mechanical models to show man’s progress from his first slow journeys on foot to his future voyages in rocket ships. At the climax of the spectacle a rocket ship takes simulated flight from a rocketport in New York to London. Beyond the rotunda, in the main exhibition hall, Chrysler Motors states a dramatic showing of Chrysler-made products, process and progress. Architect: James Gamble Rogers.
