Ken Ozkaptan states: "From my research and talking to my Dad, I have learned that my grandfather, Mehmet Ozkaptan was the manager of the Turkish Pavilion. He came to the United States around 1921 from Izmir, Turkey.

Later, Mehmet entered and won the World's Fair cooking contest and worked as a Chef at the Waldorf Astoria Starlight Roof.
